The Kingpins Show in Amsterdam is one of those must-visit events for the global denim industry. It is not a free-for-all event in that the Kingpins Show is invite-only. What this also means is that it is extremely important to learn about the significance of the boutique denim sourcing show from those who exhibit or visit.
The two-day Kingpins Amsterdam show on 23–24 October was special in itself—the show observed its 10th anniversary in the city. Kingpins, which launched in 2004, produces biannual shows in New York and Amsterdam, as well as annual shows in Hong Kong and China.
The anniversary edition had a theme: ‘Reflection’, reminiscing of the city of Amsterdam, where Kingpins first hosted a show in 2014. This time, the show space at the SugarFactory venue was redesigned to centrally locate all exhibitors on the main floor.
Over the course of Kingpins’ colourful history, the event has grown into an international denim exhibition where companies showcase their latest products; meet customers and supply chain partners; and explore market trends, Vivian Wang, Kingpins Managing Director & Global Sales Manager, remarked on the official website.
“Kingpins is not just a trade show, we are also a community,” she said. “Over the course of two days, the denim industry gathers at Kingpins to conduct business; learn about new products and practices; connect with old friends and make new ones; to share and exchange ideas; and to get inspired and inspire others. We are committed to continue to build this community around the world and to study and share best practices for our industry.”
But then, what does the community have to say about the event? We look at the subject from three different angles, and offer two perspectives for each from two major denim players who attended the event: Jeanologia and Soorty.
Jeanologia celebrated the 25th anniversary of its cutting-edge laser technology at Kingpins Amsterdam, with a capsule collection that blended the nostalgia of traditional denim with technological advances that have revolutionised the industry. The joint celebration with Kingpins—commemorating their 10th anniversary in Amsterdam and 20th globally—highlighted the global impact of laser technology through a visual installation that traced a quarter century of innovation, with a focus on the future.
On the other hand, Soorty presented its Spring/Summer 2026 (SS26) collection, Denim Horizons. The collection reflected Soorty’s commitment to blending cutting-edge technologies with conscious practices, creating fabrics and garments that meet the evolving demands of the modern consumer. Denim Horizons is a celebration of Soorty's dedication to purpose-driven design.
