Paula M Carbone is a professor of clinical education at USC Rossier. Her courses include education for sustainable futures, examining the role of public education in today’s society as a vehicle for the betterment of humanity’s shared future.

 

 

Luana Carcano

Lecturer, Beedie School of Business Simon Fraser University

Dr Luana Carcano's research focuses on design and execution of strategies, management in luxury and premium businesses, differentiation strategies, and on growth and competitiveness strategies. She is the author of numerous books and articles on the subject. 

Her works have been published in The Journal of Corporate Citizenship, Finanza, Marketing and Produzione e Mestieri d’Arte, among others. She is a board member for the Luxury Research Journal. Luana earned a degree in business administration from Bocconi University, a PhD in economics, marketing and corporate communication from IULM University, and a master’s degree in international management from Bocconi-Esade.

In addition to being a lecturer at the Beedie School of Business she is Academic Director for Undergraduate and Business Minor programmes.

 

 

Sara Cicognani

Co-Founder Flocus

Sara Cicognani is Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Flocus BV which is pioneering sustainable and regenerative textile solutions based on kapok fibre, and is creating for it a responsible supply chain. Based in Italy with headquarters in The Netherlands, she is also the co-founder of the non-profit foundation KRAF which takes care of the agricultural aspect of Kapok. Armed with a UCLA degree, Sara started her research and sales plans for Flocus since the beginning of 2016. 

Sara was invited to speak at COP29 Azerbaijan during a side event on 13 November to discuss the critical intersection of the textile and forestry industries and their role in sustainability and climate action.

 

 

Treena Clark

Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Indigenous Research Fellow University of Technology Sydney

Treena Clark is a Kokatha and Wirangu academic based in Tarntanya/Adelaide. She is working on a University of Technology Sydney funded research project titled Ad(dressing) Indigeneity: identity, healing, and social change through clothing, fashion, and style.

 

 

Jo Coghlan

Associate Professor Humanities Arts and Social Sciences University of New England

Jo Coghlan's research uses a sociological and political lens to examine a range of popular culture forms and contexts. An interdisciplinary researcher, Jo has conducted research on a range of popular and material culture areas including gendered political fashion, death studies with a focus on death fashion, critical film and television studies with a focus on class and violence, romance studies which examine issues of representation and historical accuracy, a study of the global history of swim suits (with Dr Lisa J. Hackett), James Bond studies with a focus on material culture, framing of royalty in popular culture with a focus on gender, fashion and celebrity and representations of animals in popular culture in a post-humanist context. Jo is currently writing the history of pigs in popular culture, and along with Lisa Hackett and Huw Nolan is writing a book on the royals in popular culture (Routledge 2024).

Jo is a co-founder of UNE’s Popular Culture Research Network (PopCRN), Australia’s leading popular culture research network and is an Editorial Board Member of The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture (Intellect).

 

 

Amy Corrine Richards

Innovation Storyteller Conservation X Labs

Amy Corrine Richards leads creative communications and marketing efforts as the Innovation Storyteller for Conservation X Labs, including for the Microfiber Innovation Challenge. She is passionate about developing and producing stories that advance solutions to environmental challenges. Amy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and a Master's degree in Public Policy with emphasis on energy, environmental, & climate policy from Georgetown University.

 

 

Maryse Côté-Hamel

Assistant Professor of Consumer Sciences Université Laval

Maryse Côté-Hamel is a consumer behaviour specialist passionate about consumer education. She has studied, worked and taught in both French and English. She holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Concordia University.

Maryse is passionate about consumer education and responsible consumption. She wishes to contribute to the development of strategies aimed at helping consumers make decisions aligned with society, the planet and their long-term interests and well-being.

She is particularly interested in the management of financial resources (e.g. planning/impulsivity, spending), material resources (e.g. possessions, minimalism) and temporal resources (e.g. time management, time of day, sleep). Her approach is part of the “Transformative Consumer Research” movement.

 

 

Lorinda Cramer

Redmond Barry Fellow State Library of Victoria

Dr Lorinda Cramer is a social and cultural historian whose work explores the gendered dimensions of dress and textiles. She is currently Redmond Barry Fellow for the State Library of Victoria's 2022 Fellowships Program, searching for new insights into the worn experiences of Australian wool. 

She is also a research fellow in the Gender and Women’s History Research Centre in the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at the Australian Catholic University. Between 2019-2022, Lorinda was a postdoctoral researcher in the National School of Arts at the Australian Catholic University, working on a project that examined the social and cultural history of men's clothing in twentieth-century Australia.
 

 

 

Marina Crnoja-Cosic

President Joint Research Centre and Textile ETP

Marina Crnoja-Cosic, Board Member/Senior Advisor/Expert New Business Development, has almost 25 years of experience in fibre and application development as well as in business development. Customised and market-oriented solutions, cross-company cooperation along the value chain and constant attention to long-term industry and particularly to textile and nonwoven trends are the essential features of her work.

She has played roles in the textile and nonwoven organisations in Europe and extended network across fibre, textile and nonwovens industry.

Her role as president of the Joint Research Centre and Textile ETP (European Technology Platform) in Brussels, Belgium, provided her with valuable experience in driving collaborative research initiatives and advancing technological innovation in the textile sector.

As a Board Member of CIRFS (European man-made fibre association), she contributed to shaping industry policies and promoting the interests of European textile manufacturers on a broader scale.

Additionally, the role as a board member observer of EURATEX (The European Apparel and Textile Confederation) in Brussels and as a board member of the German Textile Research Board in Berlin, gave her invaluable insights into international industry dynamics, textile strategies and regulatory frameworks.

As a proactive member of the advisory board at the most important hygiene/nonwoven trade fair INDEX/Geneva, she influenced and worked on strategies in this sector too.

Sateesh Damle's company Srott is involved in brand creation, startups and creating sustainable tannery projects with no liquid and solid waste discharge in India. Strott has helped startups in setting up projects that offer quality Kolhapuris, custom-made footwear, etc.
