Sustainable Innovation and Heritage Suppliers Help Drive New Business at Intertextile Shenzhen 2026

A marked rise in international participation has closed Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics 2026, with over 20,000 visits recorded from 74 markets alongside nearly 620 exhibitors. The fair's repositioning towards innovation supported debut fringe events covering sustainable materials, digital manufacturing and industry collaboration, and the fair remains a key South China textile business platform.

Long Story, Cut Short
  • Intertextile Shenzhen 2026 recorded a notable rise in international visits, with the city's technological advantage and growing regional collaboration potential cited as key reasons.
  • The debut Future Horizons Forum and Innovation Studio covered sustainability and material innovation under the fair's new positioning.
  • VIP buyers and exhibitors from China, France, Italy, Korea, Peru, the US and Vietnam highlighted the fair's blend of innovation and heritage suppliers.

Nearly 620 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions welcomed buyers at Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics' 2026 edition, which closed having drawn over 20,000 visits from 74 represented markets. The fair's strategic repositioning towards an innovation-focused market has been reflected in the debut Future Horizons Forum and Innovation Studio, fringe events covering sustainability and material innovation.

  • The fair was held concurrently with Yarn Expo Shenzhen and PH Value, organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Messe Frankfurt (Shenzhen) Co Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, and CCPIT.
  • In all, 65 buyers attended from four overseas buyer delegations, three of which originated in Southeast Asia, including the Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association and Thailand Textile Institute.
  • Sixteen companies showcased products within the dedicated Japan Zone, contributing to exhibitor representation drawn from China, France, Italy, Korea, Peru, the US and Vietnam.

BEHIND THE SHIFT: Intertextile Shenzhen's strategic repositioning towards an innovation-focused market produced the fair's two fringe-event debuts, with the Future Horizons Forum covering sustainability, cutting-edge materials and industry AI applications, moderated by academics from PolyU, THEi and Wuyi University. The nearby Innovation Studio, coordinated with AIHF and the same three institutions, gave guest stakeholders a collective display area for emerging textile solutions.

  • Guest speakers at the Forum included stakeholders from AIHF, LIVVIUM, niisham.liimbu, Panther Textile Group, Shift Fashion Group and Sunday Square, reflecting the platform's broadened innovation focus.
  • One exhibitor reported that kapok fibre had become a particularly prominent topic at the fair, alongside the introduction of new digitalisation tools covering traceability, fibre data and brand impact reporting.

ON THE SHOW FLOOR: Intertextile Shenzhen's VIP buyer base spanned international names including Adidas, American Eagle, Lululemon and SIDEFAME, alongside domestic players such as Annakiki, CHLOSIO and Ellassay. Exhibitors were drawn from China, France, Italy, Korea, Peru, the US and Vietnam, consistent with the fair's wider visitor and exhibitor figures.

  • Buyers cited the unique blend of next-generation solutions and heritage suppliers as a key differentiator of Intertextile Shenzhen 2026.
  • A VIP buyer from the Netherlands sourced sustainable and regenerative-fibre fabrics for a Rotterdam-based circular economy initiative developed with the Municipality of Rotterdam.
  • The same buyer's business matching programme experience yielded three high-potential connections within two hours, with an expectation of as many as ten valuable contacts overall.
  • A Japan Zone exhibitor described itself as the zone's only full-range stocking company in China, citing both a mid-to-high-end market alignment and a no-minimum-order-quantity model suited to local needs.

WHAT THEY SAID

Shenzhen is the focal point of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), which, per Bloomberg, is being positioned as China's first USD 2 trillion megaregion. Pair that with regional industry strength, fairground accessibility, and China's visa-free initiatives, and it becomes clear why this platform is ideal for business.

Intertextile Shenzhen is strengthening its identity by leaning into textile innovation, smart materials, functional finishes, sustainable chemistry, and digital manufacturing. It firmly imprints our fashion degree upon domestic stakeholders and international partners, attracting premium buyers and exhibitors who are planning for the next five to ten years, not just the next season.

THEi

We have witnessed Intertextile grow into a globally renowned exhibition in both Shanghai and Shenzhen. Yet on both days so far, we have been busy with buyers non-stop, and the number of visitors has exceeded our expectations. The needs of South China and East China are very different.

As the Japan Zone's only company that stocks full-range products in China, we can meet customer needs faster than anyone. The GBA market leans toward the mid-to-high end, which aligns well with our positioning, while our model of rolling stock with no MOQ fits local needs perfectly.

This fair mainly draws visitors from the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, with Koreans prominent among its international visitors. At this edition, the number of fairgoers has grown significantly compared to the previous two years. I believe Intertextile Shenzhen is gradually gaining momentum and participation will continue to increase.

Our company mainly focuses on women's apparel, and we came to the fair primarily to look for embroidered fabrics. We have found many of our regular suppliers here, and the show offers a diverse range of fabrics in different styles, giving us different options and enabling us to achieve our sourcing goals.

We have three digitalisation tools currently being made, a traceability tool, a fibre data tracker, and an impact data tool for brands and retailers. In addition to standards trends, I have recently been introducing the concept of using kapok fibres, and found that kapok has been a particularly hot topic at Intertextile Shenzhen 2026.
