The first ever awards for sustainability in the Indian textiles industry were given away at the 3rd Global Textiles Conclave (GTC), organised by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).
The Winners:
- Progress Towards Sustainability: RSWM Limited LNJ Denim.
- Expanding Circularity: Pratibha Syntex Limited.
- Recycling for Circularity: Usha Yarns Limited.
- The jury comprised Rajesh Bheda, CEO & MD, Rajesh Bheda Consulting Pvt Ltd; Anil Jauhri, Ex-CEO, National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB); Prashant Agarwal, Co-Founder & MD, Wazir Advisors Pvt Ltd; Aditi Haldar, Director, Global Reporting Initiative, South Asia; Ashok Thanikonda, Manager, Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF), Intellecap.

- The aim of the awards is two-pronged: Recognise efforts currently being made towards sustainability; and, Incentivise others on tread the same path. The broader objective is to trigger a cascading effect that of innovation and pragmatic work.
CITI Birla Awards: Also given away were CITI’s Birla Economic & Textile Research Foundation Awards 2022 23. The winners were:
- Contribution Towards Zero Carbon Mission: Best Colour Solutions India Pvt Ltd.
- Excellence in Water Conservation by Textile Mills: Premier Mills Pvt Ltd.
