A three-year sustainable fashion programme, IMPACT Retail: Shape Tomorrow, Today, has been launched by the Singapore Fashion Council (SFC) through annual themed exhibitions, experiential workshops, and a curated retail showcase. Funded by the SG Eco Fund, which supports community projects for environmental sustainability, and RGE and APR (Asia Pacific Rayon), it opened at Design Orchard on 22 May 2026, with its first edition centred on denim.

  • The programme was officially opened by Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, on 22 May 2026.
  • Each year's edition targets a specific material, with 2027 focused on bio-based and next-generation materials and 2028 on plastic circularity and creative reuse.
  • Eight local labels joined the 2026 responsible retail showcase: Strait Lights, POSTCARD, Sukkha Citta, As Intended, Caeli Eco Luxe, SABRINAGOH, Nyana Nyana, and SUI.

THE FOUR PILLARS: IMPACT Retail is structured around four delivery pillars, each designed to engage a distinct audience segment and drive long-term behavioural change. The programme operates from Design Orchard, combining a public-facing exhibition with hands-on workshops, an eco-conscious retail showcase, and a dedicated educator training track, forming a transformative public education platform for sustainable fashion and conscious consumption.

  • The Exhibition at Design Orchard spotlights the year's material theme through multimedia storytelling, material samples, and cutting-edge design, presenting environmental challenges and sustainable innovations to a public audience.
  • Sessions are open to students, educators, and the general public, exploring the ethical dimensions of STEAM by working with sustainable materials and investigating circular fashion systems.
  • The workshops encourage critical thinking, creativity, and sustainable design practices, framed within fashion as a value chain and grounded in the choices embedded in material production and consumption.
  • Responsible Retail at DORS (Design Orchard Retail Showcase) presents a curated showcase of eco-conscious labels, inviting shoppers to embrace mindful consumption while supporting homegrown brands committed to ethical practices.
  • The Train-the-Trainer programme equips educators, youth leaders, and community advocates with knowledge and tools to amplify sustainability education across schools, institutions, and grassroots settings.

THE THREE-YEAR PLAN: IMPACT Retail takes on a specific material focus each year, progressing from denim in 2026 through bio-based materials in 2027 to plastic circularity in 2028, with the programme's reach extending beyond Singapore. It sits within SFC's wider ambition to become a regional hub for responsible fashion, operating across four strategic pillars: Sustainability, Innovation and Technology, Internationalisation, and Retail.

  • The 2026 edition, Denim Decoded, explores how the fashion industry can reduce resource usage, minimise chemical impact, and promote denim recycling innovations.
  • The 2027 edition focuses on bio-based and next-generation materials, examining how cutting-edge materials can merge style with sustainability.
  • The 2028 edition, centred on plastic circularity, will promote creative reuse through a trash-to-treasure philosophy, delivered via installations, pop-ups, and maker workshops.
  • IMPACT Retail aims to shift public mindsets toward circular fashion and sustainable living, drive footfall to Design Orchard, and position Singapore as a leader in fashion innovation and environmental education.
  • SFC, formerly known as the Textile and Fashion Federation (Singapore), aspires to become a Vibrant Asian Hub for Responsible Fashion, working with partners across the value chain to offer thought leadership, networks, and resources to drive impactful change throughout the industry.
