Cotton stocks held by mills in their godowns on 31 May 2022 are estimated at 70 lakh bales of 170 kg each (equivalent to 74.38 lakh running bales of 160 kg each). The mills have on an average 81 days’ cotton stock in their godowns.

CAI Reduces Cotton Crop Estimate by 8.31 Lakh Bales

The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has released its May estimate of the cotton crop for the season 2021–22 beginning from 1 October 2021. The association has further reduced its cotton crop estimate for the 2021–22 season by 8.31 lakh bales to 315.32 lakh bales of 170 kg each from its previous estimate of 323.63 lakh bales of 170 kg each.

Fashion and textile technology company Infinited Fiber Company plans to build a commercial-scale factory to produce regenerated textile fibre for the world’s leading apparel companies at the site of renewable materials company Stora Enso’s closed Veitsiluoto paper mill in Kemi, a Finnish city on the northern shore of the Baltic Sea. The size of the investment is estimated at €400 million, and it is expected to create around 270 jobs in the area.
