About 1,900 fashion and textile enthusiasts visited Première Vision New York (PVNY), the major sourcing hub for North American market, according to the official post-event report. The event was held on 19 and 20 July.
The event: The two-day show provided visitors with a unique offer from 98 exhibitors from 19 different countries.
- The show offer was aligned with the industry’s needs by focusing on inspiration, innovative materials, and manufacturing solutions.
- The show also presented the latest trends and established itself once again as a one-stop shop to kick off the AW 23/24 season.
Trends on display: PVNY’s summer edition witnessed a surge of creative innovation among exhibitors as they responded to the post-pandemic rise of awareness and the need for a new structure.
- The textile trends of tomorrow were in continuity with those of today as they embraced the idea of a new beginning and direction that is still in progress.
- Recycled resources and fibre blends were at the forefront of this journey. Stemming from concerns of over-production and shortages of materials caused by the high demands, they aimed to repurpose synthetics and natural fibres and combine their fibre properties to elevate the quality and longevity of fabrics.
- There was an emphasis on blends such as hemp/cotton, linen/wool, viscose/nettle, polyester/wool/silk, or the combination of several leather tanning methods.
- References to Classicism and Antiquity made a comeback, as well as the taste for imperfection, rustic textures, complex weave structures, and second-hand aesthetics. As for color, bright, cheerful nuances contrast with mutant shades that all revolved around a foundation of neutrals and opulent grays.
- Bright silver got specific attention this season as it best illustrated the fabrics’ inner luxury. This summer edition highlighted quality, singularity, and creativity, keywords anchored in authenticity and inclusivity.
