A new report identifies likely scenarios for Bangladesh’s industrial sectors, and opportunities to accelerate just industry transitions both through direct grant-making and multistakeholder collaboration.

In a major update, the Global Change Award and its Changemaker Programme will now back a wider range of changemakers with early-stage innovations and, in a departure from an open application system, it will operate a nomination-based process. A total of 10 winners stand to receive €200,000 each.

The Global fashion Agenda (GFA) has launched ‘The Circular Fashion Partnership: Indonesia’ as a cross-sectoral initiative aimed at developing effective circular fashion systems by capturing and recycling post-industrial textile waste.

H&M’s multipartner initiative Saamuhika Shakti has selected nine startups for its ‘Techtonic – Innovations for Circular Economy’ award which supports innovations that accelerate waste management in India, while increasing and improving the stability of waste picker incomes.

The 2023 edition of the Global Change Award has a total of 10 winners and will share a €2 million grant from nonprofit H&M Foundation. The grant has been doubled.

Waste entrepreneurs, waste workers in India’s Silicon Valley have been brought under the aegis of the H&M Foundation to enable textile waste collection, sorting, and selling to generate revenue for waste pickers, as also create a circular B2B textile service model, starting with the hotel industry.

The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) has tapped into high frequency ultrasound to remove polluting microplastics from textile-apparel manufacturing facilities, preventing them from going into the sea and further damaging marine life. 

Saamuhika Shakti is a collective impact initiative wherein nine organisations have joined forces to enable informal wastepickers have greater agency to lead secure and dignified lives. The initiative has also caught the attention of the fashion industry looking for recycled plastic.
