IMPETUS group has joined Belba LLoréns to produce recycled and 100% traceable yarns from the company's own industrial waste, promoting circularity in the textile industry and helping to reduce environmental impact on the planet.
Based on environmental concern, Impetus is constantly investing in new technologies and innovative materials. For now, aiming to reduce its ecological footprint, it has developed a thread made with its own textile waste - E*Retrace®.
Through an automated waste separation system, Impetus separates the excess from its own productions and Belba Llorens transforms it into yarn that returns again to Impetus to produce the mesh and later into the final product.
The result of this partnership resulted in a collection of yarns with different combinations:
- E*Retrace30® is a yarn with 30% post-industrial recycled fibre and 70% LENZING(TM) ECOVERO(TM) Viscose from Lenzing AG, already launched to the market in 2021.
In development for 2022 there are two more mixtures composed of:
- E*RetraceCO+® is the first recycled yarn with carbon positive cotton produced with 30% post-industrial recycled fibre and 70% Good Earth Cotton.
- E*Retrace100® is a 100% recycled yarn produced with 30% post-industrial recycled fibre and 70% pre/post consumed recycled fibre (recycled viscose or recycled polyester).
All E*Retrace® yarns have embedded the power of FIBRETRACE technology that makes them fully traceable, meaning that the entire production process will be completely transparent from yarn to final product. This guarantees that "each member of the textile supply chain has the ability to take direct responsibility for reducing the environmental impact of the global industry" says Ricardo Figueiredo, Director of IMPETUS.
"Our main goal is to contribute to the circular economy and the zero waste movement assuring greater transparency and authenticity throughout the entire production process" emphasises Ricardo Figueiredo.
