Los Angeles, U.S.: Colombia has been one of the most important players in the Latin American Region for swimwear, as it is recognized worldwide for its commitment to excellent quality, attention to detail, and stylish trends. Around the world, Colombian swimwear brands have taken major international runway shows and tradeshows.
On June 13th and 14th, four Colombian brands will be able to shine in Huntington Beach, California, at the Swim Collective Show. This event is an invite-only, premier marketplace where retail buyers join worldwide to get immersed in swimming and active culture.
Colombia is known for having one of the most dynamic swimwear industries in the world. The country’s sector offers unique designs at the forefront of world trends incorporating contemporary designs with artisanal techniques and ethnic-inspired garments.
Colombian brands are also known for working with functional fabric characteristics such as high UV protection, breathability, and quick drying. Plus, most companies want to positively impact the planet by working with ECO fabrics, PET, and zero waste using leftovers to create accessories.
“ProColombia celebrates and proudly supports our swimwear fashion industry; designers, brands, and products that showcase environmentally friendly designs, helping to reduce footprint, pollution and maximizing resources. The exclusive designs, innovative materials, and tailored-made production have made these garments unique pieces that stand out in international markets”, said Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, the government agency in charge of promoting Colombian exports internationally, part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism.
“In 2022 Colombian swimwear exports to the United States reached over $12 million, 15% more than in 2021, and in this sense, it is worth mentioning that the fashion industry is important for the economic development of our Colombian territories. Our brands pay tribute to the hundreds of women, heads of household, from across our regions that work in the sector”, Caballero concluded.

- ONEONE stands out for having no inventory excess, almost 0% Waste, and no deadstock. The brand employs mothers Heads of households, and 50% of their bikinis are made from fabrics developed from recycled raw materials. Booth #501.
- MALAI is committed to environmentally friendly practices as well; it recycles the left fabrics and reuses its plastic bag; 85% of their energy is provided using solar panels. Booth #500.

- Ximena Castillo’s pieces are inspired by pre-columbian art, handmade by indigenous women and artisans of Colombia; They are known for using materials such as the iraca palm, beads, leather and semi-precious stones (emeralds), metals such as bronze and copper with 24k gold and silver bath.
