Karachi, Pakistan: AGI Denim announces the AGI Denim Regenerative Cotton Farm Project, a collaboration with the Rural Education and Economic Development Society (REEDS) to promote sustainable agricultural practices directly at farms.

REEDS is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organization that emerged from a collective commitment to address the socio-economic needs of marginalized populations. The organization’s commitment to improving livelihoods aligns with AGI Denim's values, making it the ideal partner for AGI Denim’s Regenerative Cotton Farm Project.

Agriculture and land use are crucial considerations to address climate change. The project aims to foster agricultural techniques that minimize chemical usage, enhance soil health, and preserve biodiversity.

AGI Denim's Regenerative Cotton Farm Project, in Ghotki – Sindh, aims to make a positive impact on both the environment and the supply chain within the region. The project will identify areas where REEDS can support thirteen hundred cotton farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture principles and practices, leading to improved yield. The initiative will also cultivate a deep understanding of regenerative agriculture and its positive impact on ecosystems among all participating farmers.

The project, located at the border of Punjab and in the heart of Sindh's cotton-growing region, aligns perfectly with AGI Denim's existing facilities in the province. This proximity will offer several advantages: reduced transportation impact, improved quality control through closer collaboration with farmers, and faster turnaround times for finished products.

“We aim to reduce our environmental impact through a more localized supply chain that empowers the communities where we source our materials from,” stated Hasan Javed. “By keeping things closer to home, we are better set to create more opportunities for the people who help make our denim possible.”

AGI Denim is also applying for RegenAgri certification through Control Union, a globally recognized certification body, to ensure the credibility and integrity of its Regenerative Cotton Farm Project. RegenAgri certification is a testament to the adherence to rigorous sustainability standards, ensuring that the cotton cultivated through regenerative agricultural practices meets the highest environmental and social criteria.

Understanding the growing importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, AGI Denim is committed to supporting its clients in achieving their goals. By prioritizing human rights due diligence, minimizing the farm's carbon footprint, and empowering women through knowledge-building programs, the company ensures a strong foundation for a socially responsible supply chain.

AGI Denim's launch of the Regenerative Cotton Farm Project serves as a cornerstone for enhancing traceability within its supply chain. Through this initiative, AGI Denim aims to provide consumers with greater transparency regarding the origins of their products. The denim manufacturer recently partnered with Netherlands based Green Story to make the digital product passports accessible to their clients via QR codes.
