MUNICH, GERMANY: On Tuesday, the View Premium Selection was the first event in the international trade show calendar to open the season for Spring.Summer 2026. Around 300 selected collections showcased the latest material developments and colour trends for the premium segment.
PRICE, PRICE, PRICE. OR NOT? In an economically tense and politically uncertain market situation, the openness to innovation at View Premium Selection is surprisingly high. International exhibitors are investing in new technologies. Agencies are connecting their offerings. Processes are being optimized so that new product solutions can be developed and brought into the collections even under high price pressure. “The combination of innovation, service and quality is very much appreciated by customers at the moment.
Although the mood in the market is tense, this is also an exciting momentum. The willingness to make a difference is high. This has not always been the case in difficult times in the past,” observes Christof Hornung from Agentur Hornung with collections such as Eurojersey, Lanificio Roma, Lyria, Olimpias and Techprint. “The challenge this season is to find highly modern answers in a price-sensitive market environment,” says Annika Schissler, Head of Design at Marc O'Polo, summarizing the current situation.
“Customers want to move away from comparability and are looking for very unusual collections with special features. A high degree of innovation and creative input at an early stage is extremely well received,” confirms Thomas Buschjost from the textile agency Fashion & Friends with collections such as Calik Denim, Liberty Fabrics and Mario Bellucci.
TECHNOLOGY, HUMANS AND NATURE: In the trends for Spring.Summer 2026, innovative strength and technological progress form a symbiosis with humans and nature, resulting in five contrasting moods: human tech, against algorithm, naturology, cluttercore and timeless modernity.
“We are visiting VIEW for two days and are looking for initial impulses for the summer. The themes that have emerged for us are interesting structures, transparency, fabrics with their own character and new print techniques. In terms of colour, the trend is towards pastels in the spectrum of ochre, terra and light brown tones, coated with light metallic effects or printed sequins,” says Brit Peters, Head of Buying at Schumacher.
Jenny Geilke, Founder & Owner of design studio Bureaux Bo, is pleased that the industry is more open and willing to experiment again: “Things are going well and you can tell that things are getting better again. Our customers are more courageous and are no longer just relying on bestseller updates. Demand is strongly influenced by the catwalks. Floral prints are very important. Conversationals are on the rise again, I was even asked about heart prints. Geometric prints à la Dries van Noten are here to stay. In terms of colour, people are looking for combinations with pink and rose backgrounds, everything but the classic colour combinations.”
“The start of the season with VIEW was a complete success. The haptic experience of a textile trade show, personal encounters and inspiration are of immense importance, especially in uncertain times. This is the only way to create innovative solutions and exciting new product developments. VIEW in Munich offers the ideal platform for this exchange.”
— Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director, Munich Fabric Start
