Major fashion brands are using greater amounts of polluting synthetic textiles, a survey of 50 global firms— representing $1 trillion in market value and spanning fast fashion, sports, luxury and supermarket own-brands — reveals greater dependence on synthetic fibres that are driving fast fashion, and use of fossil fuel industry tactics, says a report by the Changing Markets Foundation.

It was a seismological shift for workers post the February 2023 quake in Turkiye as the majority of those impacted were left to fend for themselves both by the factories and brands they laboured for, alleges a report by advocacy group Clean Clothes Campaign. 

A report on fast fashion purchasing practices in the European Union paints a grim picture of the tenuous trade relations between brands and manufacturers, with business-to-business power imbalances, giving buyers even more influence in defining terms and conditions than elsewhere. 

A coalition of unions and labour rights organisations have exhorted top global brands sourcing from Sri Lanka to support the highest possible standards in their supply chain.
